The Story Behind the Sound
Born and raised in Miami, Alex “Machi” Alvarado grew up at the crossroads of two worlds — classical conservatory halls where he mastered the violin and piano, and the raw, bass-heavy underground of Miami's Latin hip-hop scene. That tension between formal discipline and street authenticity became the defining fingerprint of the MachiTypa sound.
After years of session work and studio apprenticeships, Alex launched MachiTypa as a full production brand in 2014 — quickly building a reputation for lush harmonic arrangements, punishing 808 design, and an ear for melody that translated across genres. His breakthrough came co-producing Sofía Ray's “Amor Eterno”, which crossed 4M streams and opened doors to Latin pop majors.
“Every track I make carries something from the violin — structure, tension, release. The genre doesn't matter. The emotion does.”
In 2019, Alex co-founded BMB Recording Studios in Miami with partners from the city's independent music community — creating a world-class recording environment accessible to emerging and established artists alike. BMB quickly became a creative nucleus for South Florida's talent pipeline.
Today, MachiTypa operates at the center of the Typa Music Worldwide ecosystem — an independent infrastructure spanning music production, artist development, label services, and studio recording. His roster of artist collaborators spans Miami, New York, Los Angeles, San Juan, Bogotá, and beyond.
